Soundtrack to the film "Cold Merirdian" by Peter Strickland.

This piece of music is the result of weeks of intensive practicing and training in the art of improvisation on the pipe organ in Budapest. I recorded hours of material hoping to catch a moment when an unrehearsed, totally original piece of music came out fully formed with a beginning, middle, and end, theme development and drama.

It finally happened in my last days in Hungary, when I traveled with my professor and his students to the southern city of Szeged. The Votive Church in the University square has a multi-division organ, complete with an echo division in the cupola, which can be heard at 1:50, and in the final phrase.

Inspired by rhythmic figures in Hindemith's first Piano Sonata, and by the structure of Langlais' "Poem of Life".
